RESOURCES: AUDIOBOOKS
THE DHAMMAPADA
The Dhammapada is a collection of 423 versus spoken by Gautama Buddha to his disciples. His intention was to illuminate “the way” (pronounced dao (tao) in Chinese; magga in Pāli; marga in Sanskrit) out of suffering, or saṃsāra. While many descriptions of the Dhammapada use words like “ethics”, and “morals”, it should not be misconstrued as a discourse on ethics. The way to nirvana is not an ethical path; it’s simply the path that successfully gets you there.
This is an audiobook version of Müller’s translation of the original Pāli, and it is full to the brim of wise reminders and sage advice made plain. This recording is a valuable source of guidance that can greatly increase the speed of ones’ progress on their evolutionary path, especially if taken in on a regular basis.
THE ACTIVE SIDE OF INFINITY
Anthropologist Carlos Castaneda had years of intense training and surreal experiences under the tutelage of don Juan Matus, Nagual and Yaqui shaman of the Toltec tradition. Castaneda went on to produce several books on the subject of his work with don Matus, books that have a power of their own. Here you can listen to the audiobook version of The Active Side of Infinity.
THE TAO TE CHING
The Tao Te Ching was written by the sage Lao-Tzu around 500BC. The wisdom it contains was intended for kings, but is applicable to all of us.
Here Dr. Wayne Dyer reads the Tao Te Ching to us while birds sing and gentle music plays in the background, producing a soothing and easy-to-listen-to audiobook. If you prefer chillstep in the background, try this version.
